Something's coming.

Something we might not be able to deter.

A villain so bad it has brought universes together. A villain so bad Thor has decided to get serious about his life. (Might be because he has a daughter now too) A villain so bad, Steve Rogers had to come back from the past to help, and somehow an evil version of Steve came back too.

Buana, I can't wait.

A proper build-up to anything gets the hair on my arms and legs to vibrate. When I know a villain is coming to tear up Earth-616 with the wave of a finger, I can't help but get excited. Marvel has somehow convinced people to watch hundreds of hours of films and series just for a glimpse of what might happen in Doomsday. That's insane!

I still don't think it'll top Infinity War and Endgame though.

We've already seen the worst that could happen: our heroes die, half the universe dies with them. Thanos set a standard that is difficult to beat. The man had aura, that massive scrotum-like jaw, and most importantly, he walked the talk. He beat The Incredible Hulk like Hulk was a child. He beat him so badly Hulk had to become Smart Hulk. Thor only became his first real threat after getting Stormbreaker, and Wanda might have finished him if she'd mastered her powers by then. That's how dangerous Thanos was.

So topping him won't be easy. Everyone already knows how bad things can get. How bad the villain can get, how high the stakes can be. That's why I'm curious to see what Marvel does with Doom.

That makes it exciting. It reminds me there are still levels to Marvel's imagination. You have to remember all these stories come from comics. Fiction. As an occasional fictional writer myself, I know creativity can run dry. So I'm genuinely excited to see what they do with Doom and all the universes colliding.

The return of cinema audiences might be an indicator that people are hungry for quality again. Not long ago there was a general feeling online that cinema was dead. I even said it here after watching the Superman premiere. The cinema was barely half full. People know quality when they see it.

Nerds like us don't just want another movie. We want an experience. We want something that gets us off our seats.

You see it in entertainment everywhere: in football, Formula 1, the WWE, the Olympics. People don't just want quantity anymore, they want quality too. Even at the World Cup you could feel it. Half the matches were boring. Cole Palmer even joked that he fell asleep watching an England game. The final didn't even feel like a final: the atmosphere was flat, the crowd was quiet, and the football wasn't exactly memorable.

People want value for their money.

If I pay for a show or event, I want to leave feeling like every shilling was worth it. The food should be good. The atmosphere should be electric. The entertainment should deliver.

That's why I'm looking forward to Nyadhi Festival: The Legends Edition in October. John Junior knows his stuff. He always knows exactly what he's is doing. He does things with nyadhi (decorum). The organisation is always top-notch. The artists lineup, the food, the drinks, the music. Everything is put together properly. I've seen how Nyashinski approaches his shows too. The attention to detail is obvious. That's the standard people want. As the Romans would say, give the people what they want.

The same applies to filmmakers like Christopher Nolan.

I haven't watched The Odyssey yet, partly because it's been sold out around the world for weeks. But I've watched Interstellar, Oppenheimer, and The Dark Knight Rises. Every time you think Nolan has reached his peak, he disappears for a few years and somehow comes back with something even better.

Quality always wins.

That's why this season feels so exciting. The Odyssey. Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Football pre-season is on. Kenyan politics is boiling toward a gripping finale. SDA camp meetings happening everywhere as they build toward their climax. Nyadhi Festival in October with another stacked lineup. And finally, Doomsday.

Oh, it is coming.

Doomsday is coming, and we might not be able to deter it.

From the first trailer alone, we are cooked! The Avengers are cooked. As I said, it even looks like a different Steve variant is showing up. Not the one driving to the old house or the one holding the baby as we saw in the first teaser trailers. That Steve looked clean-shaven and very much like the Steve Rogers we know. This new one even surprised Thor.

Speaking of Thor, he might be the only Avenger strong enough to test Doom. Even then, Doom seems capable of stopping him with his fingers so.. there’s not much hope, in any part of the universe.

Steve is old now. The "New Avengers(z)" are weak as hell. The Fantastic Four are only fantastic in name. Wakanda has its own problems. The timelines are completely messed up.

It's going to be madness.
