Remember when we were young and we would think there are actual monsters under the bed? There are fully-grown adults who haven’t gotten past that. They can just never let their feet hang off the bed; the thought of some monster grabbing their feet and dragging them under to devour them still lingers in their mind. Crazy! I’ve been told the monsters are actually in our heads, not under the bed. Don’t know.

I have this Tuesday night for free, since tomorrow’s a holiday, so why not scribble something.

I watched the Netflix movie Divergent a couple week’s back and it got me thinking of my fears.

In the movie, one of the Divergents has a fear of heights, facing his abusive childhood dad and the fear of looking someone in the eye when he shoots them dead.

The main character lady has the fear of being attacked by birds while stuck in quicksand, and surrounded by fire. Also the fear of drowning in a glass box of water.

The trapped-in-a-glass-box-of-rising-water fear is actually pretty insane. I personally would fear that.

I’ve never really known what I fear most. There are some things I cringe at like a slippery toad, or being stuck in a cramp space. But what do I fear?

Death obviously, but what type of death. Dying in my sleep is definitely not a fear.

Maliciously attacked by a nest of scorpions is definitely a fear.

Oh, and the ocean. Oh man, you do not want to be deep in the ocean. No man, I repeat, no man can conquer the ocean. Its depths are the scariest thing on earth. I never want to be anywhere near the ocean.

In Divergent, the characters have to face their fears a couple of times and overcome them. Some had really scary ones. I personally can’t remember my fears since I watched the show. Saying I can’t remember my fears is by no means a type of toughness; I just haven’t come face to face with my deepest fears yet, to fully acknowledge them.

Most people have their fears as the ‘common’ ones: heights, water, cramp spaces, snakes, darkness etc. Do you have any ‘special’ fear of yours?
