Age Quod AgisšŸŽÆ

Who knows? This ONE idea might actually work!

I like telling stories about Jimmy. Jimmy is basically all our problems bundled into one ball of a person. You can never miss lessons to drain out of Jimmy. He’s the perfect bad example for a good story.

Jimmy was always on the move, never one to sit still. His mind was a storm of ideas, each one more thrilling than the last. Today, it was a tech startup. Yesterday, it was a novel about a robot-dominated future. The day before, it was an intricate drawing he’d never finished. One moment, he was knee-deep in a coding project, convinced it would be the next big app. The next, he was sketching out plans for a business venture that promised to revolutionize the way people interacted with technology. His room was littered with half-read books, unfinished notes, and gadgets he’d taken apart but never put back together.

Jimmy trying to execute all his ideas literally at once!

His friends often marveled at his creativity. "You’re going to change the world one day," they’d say. Obviously not actually believing he would change the world, instead they admired his gusto in coming up with ideas. Beneath the admiration though, there was a quiet concern.

are they even friends if they don’t root for both your silly and clever ideas..??

It wasn’t that Jimmy lacked ambition. In fact, he had too much of it. But his friends knew he had a habit of leaving things undone. He’d start with a burst of enthusiasm, but as soon as the novelty wore off, his attention would shift, and he’d move on to the next big thing. His life was a string of beginnings without ends. And his friends would often wonder if one day he’d actually follow through to his many ideas. Maybe they’d be friends with another Bezos, or another Elon.

One evening as Jimmy sat in his room, overwhelmed by the chaos in his head, he decided to journey through his scattered mind. He grabbed his sketchpad, determined to finish the drawing he’d started weeks ago. But as his pencil moved across the paper, a business idea sparked in his mind. He tossed the sketchpad aside and began drafting a business plan on his laptop. Not long after, his phone buzzed with a notification about a coding challenge he’d signed up for. Without hesitation, he shifted gears again, diving into the challenge.

Hours passed. The night deepened, and the only light in the room was the glow from his screen. Yet, nothing was finished, and he was now more mentally exhausted than before. The portrait was half-drawn, the business plan was a few bullet points that wouldn’t convince anyone, and the coding challenge… well, he’d lost interest halfway through.

He sat amid the remnants of his night, a nagging thought crept into his mind. The scattered pieces of his life weren’t for lack of effort but for lack of focus. In trying to do everything, he’d ended up doing nothing.

Frustration gnawed at him. Despite all his efforts, he felt empty. His dreams, so vivid in his mind, remained just that—dreams. He stared at the mess around him, each abandoned project a reminder of his scattered focus. Like most people, he wanted to change the world, but he couldn’t even change his own habits.

who knows? this ONE idea might actually work!!

And then the thought fully surfaced, in the silence of the night; all he could hear was that ringing sound everyone has in their ear. A memory surfaced—an old lesson from those high school motivational speakers that only first formers listen to: Age Quod Agis. Do what you are doing.

Do well whatever you do.

The truth was simple yet profound. It wasn’t the number of dreams he chased but the dedication to see one through that mattered. The power to change the world lay not in a hundred scattered ideas, but in the commitment to finish just one.

āœšŸ½Quote of the Week

You’ve got to fight for every dream.
Because who’s to know which one you let go, that would have made you complete.

😃You might have missed my most popular writingsšŸ˜(so far..)

  1. Argh! Tomorrow’s Monday, AGAIN..šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø - not many people like Monday. Especially if you have sleep paralysis on a crucial Monday morning. That could possibly be the worst start to the week.

  2. Inside the mind🧠 of a Master Procrastinatorā³ - The ā€˜Instant Gratification Monkey’ does not seem like a guy you want behind the wheel. He lives entirely in the present moment. He has no memory of the past, no knowledge of the future, and he only cares about two things: easy and fun. This brings conflict between the ā€˜Rational Decision-Maker’ and the ā€˜Gratification Monkey’.
